How to thaw frozen food
How to thaw frozen food taken from the freezer?
People have different approaches: Some let frozen food thaw naturally in a room-temperature setting; others thaw it quickly by submerging it in lukewarm water; some don't thaw it at all and cook it directly from frozen.
Actually, none of these methods are scientifically sound. Nutritionists believe that rapid thawing causes the loss of proteins and vitamins in food and accelerates the production of carcinogenic acetaldehyde; however, if thawing is too slow, it can lead to bacterial growth, which is also unsuitable. The correct thawing method is: After taking the frozen food out of the freezer, place it in the refrigerator first. After a few hours, take it out and submerge it in water at around 15℃ until thawed before use.
